Hip Arthroscopy in Merrillville, Indiana
Hip arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to diagnose and treat conditions inside the hip joint, including labral tears, loose bodies, and femoroacetabular impingement. Dr. Bernard Rerri, MD performs hip arthroscopy at our onsite surgery center in Merrillville, Indiana.
Conditions Treated with Hip Arthroscopy
Hip arthroscopy is used to treat labral tears, femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), loose bodies in the hip joint, cartilage damage, hip synovitis, and snapping hip syndrome. These conditions can result from motor vehicle accidents (dashboard injuries), falls, workplace trauma, or repetitive use.
The Procedure and Recovery
Hip arthroscopy uses two to three small incisions to insert a camera and specialized instruments into the hip joint. Damaged tissue is repaired, resected, or removed under direct visualization. Most patients return home the same day. Post-surgical rehabilitation, coordinated on-site, focuses on restoring hip range of motion, strength, and functional mobility.
